What I’ve Done in 2009 (checking in)

I made my goals for 2009 back in December. I figure now that I’m a quarter of the way through the year, it’s a good time to check in (particularly since I made those on the day that the former Governor was arrested, and he’s finally going to be formally indicted tomorrow – I don’t know … it seemed apropos …).

1. Learn to spin.

Not done yet; I missed an opportunity to go to a community workshop and learn. Now that Dan and I aren’t working opposite schedules and I’m out trotting around the city more nights than not, we’ve somehow been seeing less of each other. The workshop fell during a week when I had something planned every night. Something had to give. So now I’m hoping to trade some of Einstein’s fur for a lesson. (Einstein would be my brother’s angora rabbit.)

2. Start the bin.

Waiting for the Growing Power workshop this summer. We should be all moved by then (oh yeah – we’re moving … more on that in a week or two) and might have a little space to set up a worm bin then.

3. Prep for din.

I got back to my Food Therapy and I beat mushrooms. I’m duking it out with aquatic creatures next; I’m enlisting Dan for help with this one – I can cook shrimp and not much else, and if I’m going to try to like this stuff, it needs to be prepared properly.

4. Knit myself thin.

I made my first full-on sweater! Two more to go.

5. Cover shin to chin.

The new winter coat was a total bust over the cold months. I’ve got some small projects to do, and I’m not up for an in-depth project that will straddle our move, but I’m hoping late summer will be a good time to cut and sew. A big thanks to Kari for lending me one of her coats to wear all winter. All winter, I looked fancy instead of booger-y. The fancypants coat will be cleaned and returned to you shortly.

  2. I LOVE that sweater (guard your closet…) :) I can’t wait to see your new coat.
There’s plenty of time to get your goals – I have hardly touched mine…
